DISPOSAL OF SEIZED PANGOLIN SCALES

A total of 2.8 tonnes of seized pangolin scales were disposed on December 6^th, 2018 at Cenviro Waste Management Centre, Negeri Sembilan.  

The ceremony was witnessed by YB. Dr. Xavier Jayakumar, Minister of Water, Land and Natural Resources.

Also present, YBhg. Dato’Abdul Kadir bin Abu Hashim, Director General of Department of Wildlife and National Parks Peninsular Malaysia (PERHILITAN), YBhg. Tan Sri Dr. Azmil Khalili Dato’ Khalid, Chairman of Cenviro Group, YBhg. Dato’ Roslan Bek bin Ahmad, Internal Security and Public Order Department (KDNKA) Deputy Director and representative from Royal Malaysian Customs Department (RMCD).

The pangolin scales were previously seized by RMCD in several enforcement operations carried out in year 2017 before they were handed to PERHILITAN for disposal.

The seized pangolin scales were incinerated to ensure no pangolin scales would return to the black market.
